Free or Low-Cost Home Repairs available in Tri-City area: Cities of Fremont, Newark and Sunol. Eligibility based on income, for example: Family of one - income limit is $46,350, Family of two - $53,000 Available Programs: Minor Home Repair – allows FREE repairs for emergency plumbing, carpentry, electrical, railings, grab bars, water heater, furnace, doors, locks and more. Restrictions apply.
Rehabilitation Loan – a low simple interest (3% - 5%), deferred payment loan which can be used for major repair projects up to $60,000. Repayment may be deferred until homeowner transfers ownership or refinances. Included with the Rehabilitation Loan may be grant for up to $5000 which can be used for energy efficiency work, accessibility repairs and exterior painting. Accessibility Grant – allows for free upgrades to dwelling to help accommodate persons with special needs, such as ramps, railings, doorways or counter modifications. These funds are made available by the sponsoring cities and the Alameda County Community Development Agency. The programs are administered through the Alameda County CDA Construction Department.
