Living History

This section is for the capture of any bit of Niles history. This might include things like former owners and usages of the Munoz building, when Joe's corner was a place your grandfather took you for an ice cream. It may include family histories such as when they became established in Niles and when they left. It may include wartime recollections (any war). Stories about the time when the houses near the creek were on stilts or when the creek had earthen dams placed each year, or how the houses and the hobos got along. Perhaps include stories of Essanay days and Flea markets of years past. Modern history is also welcome such as why you opened your business in Niles or stories from the feude between the Main Street and Merchant associations. Collectively, these stories can provide a richer and warmer history than any summary.

This really cool write-up was found at http://www.tileheritage.org/THF-TileoftheMonth-July-05.html. It is preserved here because pages like this often go away.
